GXO is committed to ‘Quality, Environment, Safety and Health’ or QESH. To further strengthen the team and properly support the expansions within GXO, we are looking for a full-time QESH Officer for our fashion warehouse in Lelystad . As a QESH Officer you will be developing, secure and continuously improve QESH management systems within the assigned organization with a primary focus on Safety and Health regulations and the required certification (eg ISO 9001, ISO 13485, etc).
To be successful, you know how to powerfully convey your professional knowledge and you can emphasise the importance of safety, risk and quality, in a convincing and natural way.
What you do on a typical day
- Provide pro-active, accurate and useful QESH advice and support to operational management/ staff, including advising on regulations, compliance as well as environmental issues. This will either be by direct support or use of available expertise within the assigned area
- Provide pro-active support and guidance to operational teams, management and customers on QESH performance and provide root cause analysis to aid relevant coaching and feedback
- Drive the positive intervention reporting initiative and encourage near miss reporting
- Assist and support the QESH Manager in the preparation of internal and external reports and assigned projects
- Engage staff and contractors on QESH performance on a day-to-day basis and support the delivery of objectives and targets
- Undertake audits of contract depots and staff on site, including out of hours if required
- Assist and support with audits by internal and external bodies/ parties for example ISO audits, etc.
- Assist and support operational management to promote QESH at briefings and internal and external meetings and share best practices
- Assist operational personnel with incident investigation; provide advice, support and guidance on legal framework. Ensure that learning points are fed into QESH directorate for continued improvement of policy, standards etc.
- Undertake evaluations of existing and potential subcontractors, including annual auditing of subcontractor’s management systems
- Support local managers on the contact with QESH regulators HSE, Local Authority, Environment Agency etc.) accompanying them on inspections, audits and responding to complaints and queries
- Provide feedback on identified QESH risks and give advice regarding possible solutions and remedial actions
- Work within and promote the philosophy of safe team working and development across all company activities to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance
- Promote and engender and operate in a culture of zero tolerance of accidents and self-inflicted incidents
- Consciously dealing with the reduction of environmental impact in terms of waste, energy, water and fuel consumption
What you need to succeed at GXO
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (preferably technical) with accompanying high level analytical skills
- Experience in ISO 9001, ISO14001, where needed ISO13485, etc. depending on site need. Proven by relevant training
- Relevant experience in the field of Health & Safety with basic Dangerous Goods knowledge
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a complex and multidimensional organization Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in Dutch and English. Spanish would be an added advantage
